Top 10 Makeup Bag Essentials – Makeup Tips

What’s in your makeup bag? Have you got the products, tools and makeup knowledge to make light work of your daily make-up routine? Need some makeup tips?

Make a fresh start in 2015 with my Top 10 Makeup Bag Essentials –

1. Small angled brush: perfect for filling-in brows and applying eyeliner. Use small strokes to build up your look until you get confident.

2. Bronzer: a matte bronzer is great for contouring the face under the cheekbones and jawline. You can also use it to give your complexion a glow on a dull day.

3. Cosmetic sponges: perfect for applying liquid foundation and working-in concealer under the eyes and around the nose. Choose ones with a pointy end and  wash regularly – just pop into a wash bag and into the machine.

4. A statement lipstick: you put it on and you feel great, ready to face the world! It will change with the seasons and it’s not the same for everyone.

5. Eyelash curlers: train your lashes to fan upwards and outwards and your eyes will look bigger. Before mascara, close the curler onto the base of the upper lashes for a few seconds. Move up the lash for a another squeeze! Heated lash curlers are also great and very easy to use.

6. Black mascara: after curling lashes apply mascara from root to tip of the lashes with a zig-zag movement. If you turn the brush upright it makes it easy to work on the lower lashes too and coat each one.

7. Brow gel: groomed and defined brows are big beauty news. The gel adds colour while keeping the hairs in place.

8. Eyeliner: eyeliner and mascara are the easiest ways to draw attention to the eyes. Try putting liner across the whole of the upper lid as close to the lashes as you can. Don’t worry if it’s uneven – work the liner into the lashline with a cotton bud or small angled brush and sorted!

9. Concealer: essential for the morning after the night before and almost all other mornings in fact! Use a peachy tone to help block out dark circles and try to match your own skin tone when covering blemishes.

10. Something luxurious: every makeup bag should contain something special, decadent and fun! I love shimmer powders for body and hair. What’s your something luxurious?
